While traveling from Kanyakumari to Thirparappu Waterfall tourists can discover the beautiful places in and around the region like Vattakottai, Muttom beach, Gandhi mandap and Amman temple and many more.

The beautiful waterfall descending from Kodayar River is located at a distance of 60 km from Kanyakumari. After reaching Kanyakumari, there are a number of buses, auto rickshaws and taxis that connect people to different parts of the city. To reach Thirparappu Falls, the Trivandrum highway route through the village of Nagercoil can be accessed. The falls lies close to Kulasekhara village that was once ruled by kings.

Thirparappu Waterfall in Kanyakumari falls is 300 feet long and consists of a rocky riverbed. The view of the water, falling from a height of 50 feet, is truly magnificent. The Thirparappu weir has been built on the rocky mass that stretches far across the distance covering one fourth of a kilometer in the direction against the streams current. This weir supplies water to the fields that are used for irrigation.

A small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is situated on the banks of the river. There are strong walls and fortifications that surround the temple. Recently, a swimming pool has been constructed nearby, so that children can enjoy their trip from Kanyakumari to Thirparappu Waterfall to the fullest.

Olakaruvi Falls

Olakaruvi Falls is definitely a place to go if you are a naturalist or a person looking for a natural attraction. It is one of the many waterfalls that is situated in the southern tip of India. According to the old legends Olakaruvi Falls has the rejuvenating power for the old people. Thus many people come to Olakaruvi Falls to feel rejuvenated. Olakaruvi Falls is about 20 km distance from Nagercoil and it is a very popular tourist attraction. It takes more than an hour's drive plus some walking to get there but due to its popularity many people go there.

Vattaparai Falls

Vattaparai falls is located in the Keeriparai reserve forest near Bhoothapandi village on the Pazhayar River in Kanyakumari district. It is 13 km from Nagercoil and 32 km from Kanyakumari. This 20 km² area is proposed to be a Wildlife Sanctuary.

There are a few small waterfalls in this area - the nicer ones being Vattaparai Falls and Kalikesam falls. This is a very serene and undeveloped place. One can enjoy water rushing through small mountain streams, ferns and pebbles in the rainforests. The falls are surrounded by forest on all sides and forms part of an active animal corridor. The long stream is pollution-free. People are allowed to take a natural bath here and it is believed that the water from the stream has some medicinal effects.

Kanyakumari has been a great centre for art and religion for centuries. It was also an area of great trade and commerce.

Kanyakumari

Kanyakumari District is a district of Tamil Nadu state, India and is the southernmost land area of mainland India. Kanyakumari District is located at the southern tip of peninsular India and bordered by Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala state to the west and Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu to the north and east.

Climate

It is found that during the North-East monsoon, between October and December, a precipitation of 549 mm is received in 24 rainy days and during the South-West Monsoon 537 mm is received from June to September in 27 rainy days. In summer, 332 mm of rainfall is received in 11 rainy days between March and May.

Transport

There are two major National Highways (NH) roads emanating from Kanyakumari town. One is the NH 7 that starts from the town and runs through Madurai and the other is the NH 47 that runs to Salem through Kerala, touching some important cities like Trivandrum, Kochi and Coimbatore.

The state-owned Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation is the major operator of bus services in the district, though licenses are issued for specific routes to private operators.

Education

The state runs the Kanyakumari Government Medical College at Asaripallam, a Government Engineering College and a Government Polytechnic at Konam, near Nagercoil. Many private Engineering Colleges including a private University are also started-functioning in the recent past. Not less than 30 Engineering Colleges are functioning in the districts which are currently affiliated to the Anna University of Technology, Tirunelveli. Arts and Science colleges are affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.

Agriculture

Cultivation includes crops such as rice, coconut, tapioca, banana, pulses, cashew, mango, palmyrah, tamarind, arecanut, jack fruit, and clove.

Tirunelveli

Tirunelveli is also called Nellai. The translation in Tamil for paddy is "Nell". Both the names, Tirunelveli and Nellai, directly associate it to rice fields.

Climate 

The climate of Tirunelveli is generally hot and humid. The average temperature during summer March to June ranges from 23 to 36° Celsius and 18 to 30°C during the rest of the year. The average annual rainfall is 680 mm, most of which occurs during the northeast monsoon October–December.

Transport

Tirunelveli is an important junction in the National Highway No 7 connecting India from the North to South (Kashmir to Kanyakumari).

The nearest pivotal towns are: Gangaikondan in the north, Tuticorin in the east, Tenkasi and Alangulam in the west, Kalakkad in the southwest and Nanguneri in the south. It is also flanked by the state of Kerala to the west, Gulf of Manner and the districts of Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi and Kanniyakumari.

The city has many old government and private colleges in the medical, legal, engineering, arts, pharmaceutical and physiotherapic fields. Tirunelveli Medical College and the Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli are professional colleges run by the government of Tamil Nadu.

Occupation

In economical way, Tirunelveli has a range of large industries, including cement factories, companies, steel products, and mills for cotton textiles, spinning and weaving.[13] There are also many small scale industries,
